Expert Roofing Services in New Richmond, Indiana
Movie fans know New Richmond as “Hickory.” In 1985 this Coal Creek Township town stood in for the fictional Hickory, Indiana, in the filming of Hoosiers, and signs on the roads into town still recall its role on the big screen. The real New Richmond goes back much further — Samuel Kincaid platted it in 1836, and its post office has operated since 1850.
New Richmond sits in northwest Montgomery County, about 12 miles from Crawfordsville and 17 miles from Lafayette, surrounded by flat, open farmland. Storms crossing the area bring hail and damaging straight-line winds, and winters bring snow, drifting, ice, and freeze-thaw cycles that are hard on roofs and gutters.
Red Beard Roofing is a locally owned West Central Indiana contractor based near Bainbridge in Putnam County, about 33 miles south of New Richmond. Owner Alex Buker leads every project, and we bring honest, careful work to every home.
New Richmond’s homes include older houses that have stood since the town’s early days, modest homes on quiet streets, and farmhouses with barns and outbuildings on the surrounding land.
With Red Beard Roofing, you can expect:
- A thorough, honest assessment of your roof’s actual condition — no pressure, no upselling
- Material recommendations matched to Indiana’s climate, your home’s style, and your budget
- Low-interest financing options to make quality roofing accessible for every homeowner
- Clear, consistent communication every step of the way — because you deserve to know what’s happening on your own home

Common Roofing Challenges New Richmond Homeowners Face
These are the problems we see most often around New Richmond.
Wind and Hail. Open farmland leaves homes exposed to storm winds and hail. Damaged and missing shingles are common after severe weather.
Older Roof Systems. Older homes may have multiple shingle layers or aging decking. A full tear-off lets us repair problems properly.
Drifting Snow and Ice Dams. Wind-driven snow and freeze-thaw cycles can cause ice dams along eaves. Better insulation and ventilation help.
Outbuildings. Barns and garages often have older metal or shingle roofs that need repair or replacement.
Gutter Overflow. Old or undersized gutters can send water into foundations. Seamless gutters keep water where it belongs.
